During the twice-yearly Amsterdam Restaurant Week the city offers up its culinary bounty to offer memorable mouthfuls at cheap, forgettable prices. Among the 165 participating establishments are Michelin-starred restaurants, lauded celebrity dining haunts and trendy eateries.
Amsterdam, like elsewhere in the country, turns into a diner's mecca twice a year for Restaurant Week. The idea is simple: eat, drink and be merry at no added expense. It's a great opportunity to sample some of the city’s finest dining establishments by trying discounted menus that won’t leave a nasty taste in your mouth. Snag a restaurant's signature dish and you may just leave feeling enlightened.
Featured coveted kitchens from the last edition: Van Vlaanderen, Nevy at Westerdokdijk, the Supperclub cruise and Restaurant Fifteen, based on Jamie Oliver's successful concept that began life in London.
Editor’s personal picks: Ctaste for the bizarre experience of eating in the dark and Sing Sing, which excels on big Indonesian spicing and flavour.
The next edition of Restaurant Week is from 5 to 11 March 2012.
