The City of Amsterdam has published a report offering a comparative quality survey of all primary schools in Amsterdam. This is expected to aid parents when making decisions about schooling and is also designed to help raise the standard of primary schooling throughout the region.
The Quality Indicator report paints a clear and visible picture about the quality of Amsterdam’s primary schools during the past three years. Its graphical results show how each school performed compared to previous years, and also compared to other schools with similar student populations.
There are five topics utilised throughout the report to accurately indicate the quality of each school’s performance:
The Education Inspectorate assessment of the amount of supervision the school requires
Statistics about student characteristics
Test results across the spectrum of primary education
End of primary education test results
Future schooling advice.
All data has been collected and made publicly available by the schools, the City of Amsterdam and the Education Inspectorate.
The aim of this report and future surveys is not only to present a clear picture of primary education as it stands, but also to set a clear path of improvement for each school to follow. The aim is that schools will no longer demonstrate ‘weak’ results by 2014 and that those already regarded as ‘strong’ can continue to increase quality standards yet further.
