On 7 July 2010, Eberhard van der Laan was sworn in as Mayor of Amsterdam.
Following a multi-step process, former Integration Minister Eberhard van der Laan (55) was selected as the final candidate by Amsterdam City Council. He was officially sworn in on 7 July 2010.
Van der Laan signed the papers together with Commissioner to the Queen Johan Remkes. Deputy Mayor (and interim mayor until 7 July) Lodewijk Asscher then hung the Chain of Office on the new mayor.
