Press release, 1 February 2012

An English version of the Rooftrack rented accommodation website was launched on 1 February 2012. The site offers a comprehensive overview of all non-controlled rental accommodation available via professional estate agents in the Netherlands. Developed by Woningnet and supported by the Expatcenter Amsterdam, the English site will make it significantly easier for expats to find suitable accommodation.

Accommodation search for expats helps make the non-controlled rental sector more transparent for expats. Up until now, reliable information in English about rented accommodation on the market has not been available for the expat community in the Netherlands.

Amsterdam Alderperson Carolien Gehrels (Economic Affairs) commented on the development: “We want expats to feel welcome in the city and to settle in quickly. The introduction of the Expatcenter in 2008 dramatically improved the service provided to expats and information in English about rented accommodation is another clear step in the right direction.” is an interactive website that provides an overview of non-controlled rental accommodation currently available via housing corporations and professional estate agents across the Netherlands. The overview includes available accommodation in Amsterdam, Almere, Haarlem and Utrecht, as well as in the area surrounding these cities. Accommodation is only included on if it has been ascertained as being offered by a reliable source. A fundamental element of the website is that all accommodation offered is immediately available for rent. People looking for accommodation may use the website for free and 'key money' will not be requested.
