Oscar award winning beauty
Beauty and elegance made film starlets in the early days of Hollywood but strong acting proved their worth. Ingrid Bergman (1915-1982), the Swedish born silver screen queen proved it three times over in Oscar wins.
Queens of Two Cinema Worlds
Bergman worked in both Hollywood and Sweden for directors like Hitchcock, Rossellini and Ingmar Bergman and swooned American, Swedish and Italian audiences with her perfect looks. This summer (1 July - 1 September) EYE Film Institute Netherlands runs a programme showing the breadth of her international work.
Opening night
Beginning on 1 July at the series opening see her filmic debut, the Swedish Intermezzo (1936) followed by the American Gaslight (1944).
