Guests of the Expatcenter's SAIL event were treated to the spectacle of the Clipper Stad Amsterdam, a replica of a historic 19th-century tall ship.
The afternoon began with an informative seminar for HR managers on the hiring and firing of international employees. The full presentation may be downloaded here (PDF).
Seminar guests then joined a sunny networking session on the ships’ deck, attended by Expatcenter partnership programme representatives and international community relations.
An international network of professionals took part in an event steeped in rich Amsterdam history and discussed strategy and services for the city’s international residents - the sentiment of the event could not have been clearer. Amsterdam has always been enriched by the presence and participation of internationals in the city, and it is crucial that we continue to foster this.
This was perhaps best illustrated in a speech delivered by Deputy Mayor Kasja Ollongren, where she announced a new programme to improve the accessibility of public services to internationals to attract and retain international talent. "So that every international who chooses Amsterdam will experience at least one fantastic edition of SAIL."
