Cooperation takes place both within Europe and throughout the rest of the world.
From 25 to 27 May 2010, the 17th WCIT World Congress on IT (WCIT) brought together more than 4,000 executives, government leaders and academics from over 90 countries to share and build a vision of a connected planet with access for all.
WCIT 2010 was hosted by the Dutch trade association ICT Office, co-hosted by the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and the City of Amsterdam and supported by the European Commission.
One prominent outcome of WCIT 2010 was the presentation of the Declaration of Amsterdam. This statement spells out commitments to direct the use of ICT to stimulate economic growth, reduce greenhouse gases, increase quality of life and consumer confidence and ensure that these benefits are felt around the globe.
A forum on the WCIT website provides interested parties the perfect opportunity to discuss matters. The results provide input for a process that will continue beyond Amsterdam, towards the next WCIT in 2012 in Montreal, Canada.
