Amsterdam was nominated as a finalist for the European Commission Green City Award in 2010 and 2011. Climate programmes and sustainable mobility were two of the most significant factors that played a part in securing the nomination.

Green finalists

A subsidy for green roofs and walls is available in Amsterdam

Other finalists in 2010 and 2011 were Bristol, Copenhagen, Freiburg, Hamburg (winner 2011), Munster, Oslo and Stockholm (winner 2010).
