Low occupancy rates is business plus for Amsterdam

The Amsterdam Metropolitan Area remains one of the world’s most attractive areas to do business boasting some of the lowest occupancy rates in Europe.

Amsterdam tops occupancy rate study

Low Occupancy Rates in Amsterdam

A recent study by real estate agency DTZ Zadelhoff clearly highlights differences in occupancy costs around the world.

Occupancy costs per workspace per year are the highest in London (West End) at $ 21.420 (€ 15.136). This is almost double the cost of workspace in Amsterdam, which averages $ 11.920 (€ 8.424). The research analyses the total occupancy costs per workspace in 116 business districts in 47 different countries.

European perspective

The Amsterdam Metropolitan Area offers a dynamic environment to do business at competitive costs. It can offer workspaces at a much lower price than many other European cities such as Geneva, Paris, Munich and Zurich, reinforcing its position as the ideal gateway to Europe for international organisations.

Future prospects

Researchers have estimated that prices per workspace in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area are expected to remain very competitive in the near future, while London is expected to remain the most expensive location in terms of occupancy costs per workspace.

Competitive prices for workspace continue to attract foreign companies to Amsterdam, Amstelveen, Almere and Haarlemmermeer, benefiting from an ideal location from which to set up their European headquarters and from where to drive forward their marketing and distribution activities.
