Lloyd Hotel to create catwalk on Damrak
The Lloyd Hotel will open a new hotel on the Damrak, the entrance to Amsterdam's city centre. The hotel will be situated across from the world's first stock exchange, the Beurs van Berlage -- hence the name of the hotel, ‘The Exchange’. The opening is planned for early 2011.
Fashion statement
In cooperation with the Amsterdam Fashion Institute (AMFI) and NV Stadsgoed, The Exchange will spearhead a facelift of the Damrak, making it the grand entrance to Amsterdam. With the launch of this project, the red carpet is rolled out, transforming the Damrak into the catwalk of the Netherlands.
Selected fashion school students and graduates will be given the task of designing the interior of the 63 one to five-star rooms. Each room will have a unique design, like models on the catwalk.

Just a five-minute stroll from Amsterdam's top tourist attractions and up the street from Amsterdam Central Station, The Exchange will offer breakfast all day (STOCK) as well as a gift shop (OPTIONS).
