The Netherlands-India Chamber of Commerce and Trade (NICCT) has awarded HYVA, a company that develops, produces, markets and distributes components for the commercial vehicle industry, with the first Netherlands India Business Award (NIBA).
The prize was awarded by the Ambassador of India to the Netherlands, Manbir Singh, and the Ambassador of the Netherlands to India, Bob Hiensch at a dinner following the second Netherlands India Business Meet (NIBM) in Amstelveen.
The meeting, organised by NICCT, ING and KPMG, drew around 250 Dutch and Indian delegates to explore and discuss business opportunities between the Netherlands and India.
The prize is a recognition of HYVA’s sustainable approach in both their business and financial model, generating local employment in India, increasing exports out of India and their commitment to responsible manufacturing.
“HYVA has successfully demonstrated that localization in India works and has shown an innovative and creative approach in developing new market segments,” said Ram Lakhina, Executive President of NICCT and Chairman of the jury.
“As a result, HYVA is a show case company that discovers the possibilities of doing business with India. First they exported products from the Netherlands to India, then they started manufacturing in India and now they have become a sizeable exporter of Indian manufactured products to more than 30 countries around the world.”
According to the Dutch immigration service (IND), Indian professionals have become the single largest group of knowledge migrants coming to The Netherlands. In cities such as Amstelveen, Indians are on their way to becoming the largest minority, having already 874 Indians living there.
In recent years, substantial companies have emerged from India and set up offices in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area, including: Tata Consultancy Services, Wipro and Infosys in the ICT sector, and Tata-Corus (Steel).
