Project developer OVG has signed an agreement with Asics Europe for the development of a new European Headquarter for the sports shoe manufacturer in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area.
Asics is currently the third biggest sports shoe brand in Europe, and claims to be the market leader in performance running. From its European HQ, which has been in Hoofddorp (part of the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area) since 1995, the EMEA countries will be managed and supported in their sales, marketing, product development, ICT and distribution. The new move to a developing business park at Beukenhorst-Zuid, also in Hoofddorp, should only strengthen their position in the market.
The 5,000-m2 building at Beukenhorst-Zuid is within walking distance of Hoofdorp train station, it is easily accessible by car too. In fact, Beukenhorst-Zuid is destined to be the most sustainable full-service business park in the Netherlands as it unfolds over coming years.
Architect bureau Cepezed is responsible for the design. The building will have a centrally situated atrium that will allow daylight to flood in and create a pleasant work environment, and be among the most sustainably built in offices in the Netherlands, says OVG.
Energy for heating and cooling the building will be locally and sustainably produced with the aid of bio-cogeneration and solar panels. The design will also encourage the use of stairs by connecting all floors with each other via a central cascade stairwell.
The building is scheduled to open in 2011 and is the second development by OVG at this location, after the Green Office for TNT. The company expects contracts to be signed very soon for the development of the third and fourth building in this sustainable plan.
