The conference will be held in the RAI in March and will attract up to 2,000 of the world’s main players in this increasingly important sector.
In making its decision, Point Carbon said Amsterdam’s attractions included the fact that it is the home city of the world’s most active bank in trading of CO2 emissions rights, Fortis.
The city’s strength in the ‘Sustainability and Finance’ financial services niche was another factor, plus the fact that Amsterdam is a pleasant, hip city for a conference helped swing the decision.
2010 promises to be a good year for Amsterdam and financial conferences, because in addition to Carbon Market Insights, SIBOS is also coming to the city.
This SIBOS conference attracts 8,000-9,000 bankers from around the world, making it the is largest financial congress held anywhere.
Also, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) will hold its bi-annual conference in Amsterdam in 2010.
GRI is an important organisation in the field of sustainable annual reports and as such the conference serves to strengthen Amsterdam’s position as a 'Sustainability and Finance' centre.
