Research by the Dutch-German Chamber of Commerce revealed Amsterdam was once again the most popular city with German investors in 2009.
With 171 German subsidiaries, the Dutch capital was in first place, ahead of Rotterdam (123) and Utrecht (58). The top three places in the rankings were unchanged from the previoust year.
“It’s a confirmed trend for German companies to focus on the big cities,” says DNHK Director Axel Gerberding. “The Randstad continues to lead, and it can increase its lead even further.” The remaining positions in the top ten were occupied by Amersfoort (56), Eindhoven (51), Arnhem (46), Breda (45), The Hague (45), Nieuwegein (43), 's-Hertogenbosch (42), and Venlo (42).
