An innovative bootcamp to a growing market

The bootcamp to Cape Town – organised by the Dutch Consulate General in Cape Town, DutchBasecamp and its South African counterpart, StartupSafari – will take place during the South African Innovation Summit (6 to 8 September 2017), the country’s premiere tech event. It presents a unique opportunity for Amsterdam-based startups to get a foot in the door of the area's rapidly growing startup ecosystem. #cocreate2ACCELERATE is an innovative trade mission which will see Dutch and South African startups exchanging ideas and collaborating to come up with sustainable, viable solutions to the area’s biggest challenges.

The programme will mentor the startups, helping them achieve their goal of scaling internationally by introducing them to relevant stakeholders across Cape Town and Johannesburg, including investors, government officials and seasoned entrepreneurs. Participants will also take part in the SA Innovation Summit, where there will be special Holland Booth that’s dedicated to facilitating matchmaking sessions and networking opportunities with Africa’s key business players.

An opportunity for Amsterdam’s tech startups

Two lucky startups will be selected to take part in the bootcamp, complete with a tailor-made programme that’s specific to the needs of their business. In particular, DutchBasecamp are looking for FinTech, AgriTech, BlueTech, EduTech and smart-city startups, as these sectors have the most potential in the up-and-coming African market. Of course, startups in other sectors will also be considered if their product is valuable for the area.

The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) is fully funding the programme, but the startups are expected to cover the costs for travel and overnight stay. If you’re interested in applying, DutchBasecamp will be holding a range of information sessions throughout the summer, with the first one is happening in Utrecht on 31 May 2017. Up for the challenge?
