Oracle chooses Amsterdam for its new cloud initiative

The American technology giant Oracle has found a location in Amsterdam for its new Cloud Sales Center. Oracle has chosen a prestigious old warehouse located on the Nieuwevaart, a street near Central Station, the National Maritime Museum, and the newly redeveloped Marineterrein area. About 450 employees will work out of this new location.

Construction of the new facility is currently underway, and it is expected that employees will be able to move in to their new office by June of 2017. In January of this year, the company had announced a major recruitment campaign for cloud sales professionals in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).

The Amsterdam Cloud Sales Center has been active since March 2016. At the moment, more than 150 employees work in the temporarily office at the UP office building in Amsterdam, and that number is growing every month.

Talented workforce, world’s leading brands in Amsterdam

Oracle is expanding its Dutch presence to Amsterdam in order to gain access to the city’s highly talented workforce, and also to have a presence on the doorstep of some of the largest brands in Europe that are based in the city.

According to René van Stiphout, the country leader at Oracle Netherlands, “The Netherlands is becoming a larger cloud market within the EMEA, especially now that companies are using the full potential of the cloud.”

“We’re welcoming many new cloud sales professionals in Amsterdam every month, and they help customers to make optimal use of cloud software, platforms and infrastructure,” he said.

The City of Amsterdam’s deputy mayor Kajsa Ollongren also congratulated Oracle on their new location in the city. “We’re very happy that Oracle chose for this beautiful and extensively renovated office building on the Nieuwevaart,” she said. “ We are convinced this office will contribute to attracting both national and international talent.”
