Amsterdam again to host the global VC community

Amsterdam is gearing up for the second edition of Amsterdam Capital Week, during which startups and venture capitalists from around the world will travel to Amsterdam to meet, discuss views on the capital scene and strike deals.

The 2016 edition of Amsterdam Capital Week, which will take place from 26 to 30 September, will feature a full programme with more than 25 events, focusing on connecting all types of investors with national and international startups and scale-ups. Last year, Amsterdam Capital Week welcomed more than 500 investors and more than 2000 startups in various phases of maturity

For investors, Amsterdam Capital Week facilitates matchmaking with fast-growing startups. All of the participants will have the chance to pitch and meet, so as to inspire new investments and long-term partnerships.
Amsterdam Capital week is an initiative of the StartupAmsterdam action programme. It grew from an ambition to connect startups and capital, and to create a space where startups and investors can meet, exchange and initiate deals. Early-stage startups can pitch their ideas, and learn how to find alternative funding. Likewise, scale-ups will discuss their scaling strategies with established entrepreneurs and serial investors.

Europe's startup city

According to Kajsa Ollongren, Amsterdam’s alderperson for Economic Affairs, Amsterdam is unique startup city in Europe. “The city is crammed with creativity and entrepreneurship,” she said. “Amsterdam Capital Week is a good example of a new and intensive collaboration between all the different parties. This enhances Amsterdam’s appeal for international talents and capital.”

Robert Jan Galema, the managing director of INKEF Capital, shares that sentiment. “As the Dutch startup scene emerges, the quality and quantity of distinctive business propositions grows,” he said. “It is time to show the world that the Netherlands is hot.”
