Amsterdam: a top city for conferences

The expansion of Amsterdam RAI will likely prove to be beneficial for the city’s position as one of the leading conference locations in Europe. The number of congress visitors in Amsterdam is already steadily increasing each year – last year, this resulted in  a record number of 400,000 international visitors and a profit increase of 5%.

Integrating the hotel in its surroundings

According to a press release, construction is slated to begin in mid-2016. Klaas de Boer, director of the Municipal Zuidas Development Office and Amsterdam RAI’s general director Hans Bakker officially launched a joint tender for the construction of the new hotel at the real estate convention PROVADA. They aim for a plan that is both bold and viable, integrates the hotel in its immediate environment at the RAI and offers added value to the city of Amsterdam.

The tender

The procedure will comprise a public pre-selection followed by a closed final selection; the Municipality of Amsterdam and Amsterdam RAI hope to finalise the tender and begin drawing up the plans in early 2015. More information about the tender is available at the Zuidas website
