Along with development group Provast, Meininger won the bid for to create the hotel section of this new property near the Amstel train station in Amsterdam.
Expanding their hotel footprint via Amsterdam
The Amsteltower is set to become a mixed-purpose residential and hotel complex and forms a key part of the redevelopment of the Amstel Station Area. Within this, the new Meininger Hotel hotel will cover an area of 7,500 m² and house 165 rooms. In a press statement, Navneet Bali, CEO at Meininger Hotels, explained: “The hotel next to Amstel Station is going to be an important step for our expansion in Europe. Meininger’s aim is to run an ‘urban traveller’s home’ in every European capital city. The Amstel Station location is perfect in this respect.”
Creative hotel developments
Meininger opened its Amsterdam City West hotel in 2012, becoming the chain’s first hotel in Amsterdam. Reflecting its wide variety of visitors, Amsterdam has an impressive range of hotels, from world-class five-star establishments to floating hotels, such as the Botel. The new Meininger Hotel will combine the best of both a normal hotel and a hostel, and is therefore a unique addition to the range of hotels that are already located in Amsterdam.
