Serving new and existing clients from Amsterdam
This news follows two months after the company’s acquisition of Layar, a start-up from Amsterdam.
From its new base in Amsterdam, Blippar aims to serve clients in Luxembourg, Belgium and the Netherlands. According to the Dutch magazine Adformatie, im Dutch, Blippar chose to set up shop in Amsterdam because of the proximity to new and existing clients. In addition to Dutch (or partially Dutch) marketers like Shell, Heineken and Unilever, the Netherlands is home to the international or European headquarters of companies such as Adidas and Nike.
Amsterdam’s creative industry
Moreover, the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area is home to a very well-developed creative industry and has an excellent digital infrastructure that draws many ICT firms to the area, providing companies such as Blippar with an excellent base to operate from. The Amsterdam Area consequently tops the rankings as a perfect location for international, innovative start-ups. In a report by Startup Genome, for example, Amsterdam was identified as one of the ‘runner-up cities’ in a list of the best places in the world for start-ups. The report lists top locations that provide the best ecosystem for launching new businesses.
