Leading conference venue
As a leading international conference venue, the Amsterdam RAI complex already regularly hosts major events ranging from car and trade shows to musicals and classical concerts. It is expected that the new building will be a valuable addition to the complex, helping to meet the growing demand for locations in which conference possibilities can be combined with exhibitions and/or meeting rooms, for example, for break-out sessions or product presentations. According to a statement by Amsterdam RAI, construction of the building will start in October 2013 and it will be opened on 1 May 2015.
The new building will incorporate the most advanced sustainablity techniques, aiming to achieve a REEAM-NL excellent level. This sustainability certificate is managed by the Dutch Green Building Council (DGBC) (in Dutch) and focuses on various 'green' features, such as utilising natural means for the heating and cooling of facilities – for example, via thermal energy storage (TES) or solar panels.
