Exceptional year for Amsterdam RAI

In a press statement, the convention centre states that 2013 was an exceptional conference year, particularly for conferences for the medical profession. “Amsterdam RAI facilitated events for an enormous range of medical disciplines. In 2013 Amsterdam RAI attracted over 400,000 international visitors, marking an increase of over 30% in the conference segment over the past five years.”

Busy schedule in 2014

Amsterdam RAI will have further opportunities to entice international visitors in the year ahead, with a busy 2014 calendar that includes returning large-scale events such as the 51st edition of the ERA-EDTA Congress, Europe’s premier conference on nephrology, from 31 May to 3 June. Later on this year, Amsterdam RAI will host IBC2014 (the International Broadcasting Convention) with its expected 50,000 visitors, as well as PLMA and METS.

Amsterdam convention hub

The city takes advantage of the strong corporate sectors in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area to provide organisers of events with opportunities for synergies they can’t find anywhere else. With fast connections and high internet utilisation rates, as well as the largest data transfer hub in the world, Amsterdam is home to a large number of ICT businesses, ranging from telecom and data centres to social media marketers and software developers; an advantage that can be used by actively involving the business community here with congresses in the region.
