Mead Johnson Nutrition, an American producer of food for infants and children, officially opened their European head office in Amsterdam on 1 July 2010. The company had investigated various other locations in Europe, but decided on Amsterdam.
Mead Johnson considers Amsterdam to be the perfect location for their European headquarters. "Amsterdam has a number of important advantages, such as an excellent infrastructure, qualified and talented personnel, and a competitive financial structure.
Amsterdam is a perfect location for our company’s activities," says Catherine Fitzsimons, Vice President and Mead Johnson‘s General Manager for Europe. "We are very happy with the support and input of the municipality of Amsterdam and with the local economy."
Mead Johnson was represented at the opening ceremony by members of the board of various head offices and managers from all over Europe. In addition, other noteworthy attendees included Fay Hartog Levin, the American ambassador to the Netherlands, Hilde van der Meer, Managing Director of amsterdam inbusiness, Klaas de Boer, Managing Director of Zuidas, Amsterdam's Central Business District and Henk Dijkstra, Managing Director of Central Amsterdam Goodwill.
Ambassador Hartog Levin praised Amsterdam as the prime location for American companies to locate, because of its accessibility.
Mead Johnson’s new office is located in the World Trade Center in Amsterdam’s Zuidas and offers employment to 30 people. Zuidas, Amsterdam's Central Business District in Amsterdam South, offers companies an outstanding location for their offices. Many companies, such as ABN AMRO, Accenture and Boston Consultancy Group have already chosen to set up shop there.
Zuidas is accessible by car or public transport and is less than 15 minutes away from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. It offers many services to international companies, such as the Expatcenter and the Holland Financial Centre, located in the World Trade Centre in the heart of Zuidas.
