Amsterdam will once again host the Global Conference on Sustainability and Transparency from 26 to 28 May 2010. During the biannual conference initiated by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), participants from all over the world will come together in to address the challenges of sustainability through transparency.
Given the current state of affairs, the stakes are much higher at the 2010 conference. The theme of the conference is therefore: Rethink. Rebuild. Report.
Rethink: the fundamentals of our resource consumption
Rebuild: our economy to meet the challenges of the future
Report: sustainability reporting as a tool for change
Thought leaders from business, finance, government and civil society will debate the political, strategic and practical choices confronting everyone. Expert practitioners will lead workshops and interactive sessions to define the building blocks of more effective reporting.
As one of the “greenest” cities in the world, Amsterdam is the perfect place to host the 2010 Global Conference on Sustainability and Transparency. Amsterdam has announced that by mid-2015, all new construction in the city must be energy neutral. It is partly for this reason that the city has been nominated for the prestigious title of Green Capital of Europe in 2010. The Amsterdam Metropolitan Area is also developing itself as a sustainable transportation hub. The City of Amsterdam actively supports electric transportation and a more sustainable port, for example.
The conference is an initiative by Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), a network-based organisation that has pioneered the development of the world’s most widely-used sustainability reporting framework and is committed to its continuous improvement and application worldwide.
It is still possible to attend the GRI Conference. Those who are interested may register and read more information about the conference at GRI Conference.
