The Amsterdam Metropolitan Area is home to a new, high profile knowledge institute. On 16 June, the official inauguration of the Amsterdam Global Change Institute (AGCI) took place at the VU University in Amsterdam.
Headed by Prof. Frans Berkhout, the aim of the AGCI is to bring together five institutes and three faculties: Earth and Life Sciences, Economics and Social Sciences. The institute will enable excellence in interdisciplinary research on global change, sustainability and the environment.
With the creation of the AGCI, the VU University Amsterdam hopes to further its contributions to informing and shaping societal choices and innovations through more integrated research.
More than 150 researchers are now a part of the AGCI and they will combine their expertise across different projects. For more information, check the AGCI website.
