The City of Amsterdam has designed a new subsidy scheme to encourage businesses in Amsterdam to switch to more sustainable means of transportation. The subsidy scheme will reimburse businesses in Amsterdam for up to 50% of the additional cost of purchasing an electric vehicle. With this new scheme, Amsterdam shows it's serious about sustainability.
The outstanding quality of life is one of the main advantages the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area offers foreign business.
By encouraging businesses in Amsterdam to invest in electric transportation, the city boosts innovation, sustainable development and the quality of life in the area.
Amsterdam is gearing up towards becoming a green transportation hub. In total, three billion euros have been reserved for the scheme within the plan 'Amsterdam electric'. The subsidy scheme will reimburse businesses in Amsterdam for up to 50% of the additional cost of purchasing an electric vehicle. This additional cost is the purchase price of an electric vehicle, minus the purchase price of a comparable vehicle with a petrol or diesel engine.
To stimulate electric transportation even more, recharging stations are being erected all over the Netherlands. In these public charging points, anybody with an electric vehicle can park and charge for free. Of course green electricity will be used for charging.
More information about the subsidy scheme can be found on the website for the City of Amsterdam's Electric Transport project group.
