Prosperous population

The Netherlands is one of Europe’s most prosperous countries. According to new figures released by Eurostat, the European statistics office, the Dutch produced more wealth per capita than all but one other European country.

Higher earnings

Only Luxembourg had a higher per capita GDP in 2009 and the national income in the Netherlands per Dutch national was 30% higher than the European average. Worldwide, the Dutch per capita GDP ranks 8th according to the IMF (2009).

Gateway to affluent customers

Amsterdam Internet Hub

The Netherlands offers excellent trade routes and the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area in particular provides you with access to the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) and beyond.

Therefore, the Amsterdam Area lets you tap into the most attractive customer markets in the world.

There are additional reasons why setting up shop in the Amsterdam Area is beneficial to international companies:

  • International trade hub: the Dutch are noted for an open economy with one of the strongest orientations toward international trade in the world. The Netherlands is one of the leading European nations for attracting foreign direct investment and has run a sizeable current account surplus for years.

  • Strategic geographical location: the region has always been a major transit hub for people, goods, capital and services to and from the 350 million potential customers on the European continent.

  • Excellent infrastructure: major port complexes are within a 50 km radius of the area. The region offers international rail links and is in close proximity to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.

  • Largest data transport hub in the world: The Amsterdam Internet Hub (AMS-IX) is the world’s largest and most stable digital exchange platform. It’s also known for its superior quality and low cost.

  • Frontrunner in globalisation: the well-developed Dutch services industry is globally oriented. Whether you need knowledge on how to organise logistics, ICT, tax, legal issues or sales and marketing in Europe, the Amsterdam Area is home to all the important global players.

  • Efficient and cost effective: the Netherlands has an efficient legal system with transparent laws, and a competitive tax system which allows you to achieve the highest possible return on your investments.

  • Excellent test market: the Netherlands has a reputation as one of the best test markets to enter the European continent and beyond. The Dutch adapt quickly and are creative innovators within a relatively small home market which is easy to analyse

  • Competitive tax regime: companies established in the Netherlands profit from various tax advantages such as a competitive corporate tax rate of 25%, no withholding tax on outgoing interest and royalty payments, double taxation relief and much more.

  • The service sector is highly competitive and works for prices that are on average lower than in other major European cities.

  • The Amsterdam Area offers a multilingual, internationally oriented and highly qualified workforce. More than 80% speak English and approximately 40% have a university degree or higher professional education.
