The Netherlands has been designated as one of the happiest countries in the world. Findings from a recent Gallup poll confirm the outstanding quality of life the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area has to offer its residents.
The Gallup World poll, which measures two types of wellbeing in 155 countries worldwide, ranks the Netherlands 4th among happiest nations of the world. The majority of Dutch people are very satisfied with their lives according to the poll’s high percentage of positive “life evaluations”.
According to the Gallup poll, the Netherlands ranked higher than neighbouring Belgium, Germany and the United Kingdom. Only the Scandinavian countries surpassed the Netherlands in terms of happiness.
These findings reflect the unrivalled quality of life in the Netherlands and particularly in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area. In a recent Mercer Quality of Life survey in cities worldwide, Amsterdam ranked among the top 20 cities. Amsterdam continues to score high compared to other European capitals, such as Brussels, Berlin, Paris or London.
