A new General Aviation Terminal at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol-East was opened on 11 July 2011 for business and private use.
Schiphol explains in a press release that General Aviation (GA) is the international designation for private and business flights for aircraft carrying no more than 19 passengers.
The new terminal at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol-East will accommodate the approximately 4,500 GA flights per annum. Business and private commuters will appreciate the welcoming and user-friendly layout of the new terminal.
As well as meeting the highest demands in terms of quality and efficiency, the building has also been designed with sustainable principles in mind. No energy is wasted due to a lighting and ventilation system that operates with presence detectors.
The new GA Terminal intends to provide its business and private jet passengers with every comfort they could wish for whilst traveling to and from the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area.
In 2010 Schiphol provided direct flights to 301 (European and Intercontinental) airports in 99 countries to more than 45 million passengers. Amsterdam Airport Schiphol was ranked the fifth-largest European passenger airport in 2010.
