Canadian travel agents have once again voted Amsterdam Airport Schiphol as their favourite airport. Schiphol was a clear winner, soundly beating competition from London’s Heathrow Airport and Toronto’s Pearson airport.
The latest issue of Baxter Travel Media Magazine elaborates upon the main factors behind Schiphol’s popularity. One of the most significant factors is the diversity of services offered to passengers.
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol boasts a wide range of duty-free shops, fine dining facilities and a casino and the menu of services continues to grow. For example, in May 2011, Princess Irene of the Netherlands opened the world’s first airport park at Schiphol.
Another major plus for international travellers is that practically everybody who works at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol speaks English. And this advantage is not limited to the airport - the entire Amsterdam Metropolitan Area is known for its international mindset.
80% of the Amsterdam workforce speaks English, making it the largest anglophone city in continental Europe. 90% of the workforce speaks two or more languages.
