Amsterdam Airport Schiphol can add yet another award to its trophy case. Schiphol has been named the "Best Airport Western Europe" by Skytrax.
Both London Heathrow Airport and Copenhagen Airport made it into the top 3 of best Western European Airports, but were surpassed by Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.
The award is based on the votes of more than 9.8 million travellers from over 100 different countries and ranks different airport service and product factors - from check-in, arrivals, transfer through to departure at the gate.
This recognition reflects the importance of the airport to making the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area the gateway to Europe. Amsterdam Airport Schiphol remained in the top 10 for the overall airport survey moving up one place to 7th this year, ranking 3rd position in Europe.
Edward Plaisted, Chairman of Skytrax said: "Amsterdam Airport Schiphol has maintained a very strong global ranking during the years of the World Airport Survey, and I congratulate them on achieving this Best Airport Western Europe title in 2010."
