Amsterdam Airport Schiphol was a winner at the 24th annual Asian Freight & Supply Chain Awards (AFSCA) ceremony in Shanghai on 10 June 2010. Readers of Cargonews Asia voted Schiphol as the Best Airport Europe for the 17th time. The AFSCAs are highly-respected awards in the Far East.
Cargonews Asia is one of Asia's most prominent trade journals and the AFSCA event - also known as the “Shippers Choice Awards” - is an annual highlight in the Asian freight industry calendar.
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol received the award for the superior quality of its freight infrastructure, competitive strength, cargo-friendly rates and investments in new infrastructure and cargo facilities.

Schiphol has been honoured with many awards in the past, including best international airport by magazine Executive Travel and best cargo airport 2009 at the AFSCA. Since 1980 Schiphol has won more than 160 awards as the best airport in Europe and the world.
Air cargo transport to and from Asia is very important for Schiphol and the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area. In 2009, 45% of Schiphol’s total cargo volume or 580,822 tonnes of cargo were transported to and from Asia.
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is the third largest European cargo airport (1,6 million tonnes of cargo in 2007) and the fourth largest European passenger airport (47,8 million passengers in 2007). Ninety different airlines operate flight services from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol to 270 destinations worldwide. The airport ranks as one of Europe’s four major hubs.
