Amsterdam Airport Schiphol was chosen best airport at Flightglobal's annual aviation web awards named Webbies 2009, adding yet another award to the airport's trophy case.
The awards are given to the best and brightest in aviation websites and their social media activities.
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol triumphed in the Best Airport category for knocking down language barriers and Flightglobal's judges were impressed with the blog, Things in the Sky, for its "compelling visual content".
This recognition from the international aviation community reflects the importance of the airport to making the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area the gateway to Europe. Just as on the web, the rest of the world is never far away when living and working in the Amsterdam Area. Schiphol is one of Europe’s main airports processing thousands of passengers per day.
