Switch Datacenter Group announced the completion of the first phase of their new, hypermodern data centre in Amsterdam.
According to a press release by the firm, the data centre provides “the answer to the growing demand for affordable high quality carbon and network neutral data centre capacity in Amsterdam”.
The new facility is equipped with the latest cooling and energy saving infrastructure, making it as sustainable as possible while saving money; providing a direct price advantage to customers.
Switch chose to establish the data centre in Amsterdam’s south east for many reasons, but predominately because the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area has one of the highest densities of international carrier fiber backbones in the world.
Amsterdam is known as a strategic location to set up data centres because of its proximity to the Amsterdam internet hub AMS-IX, the largest data transport hub in the world, known for its superior quality and low costs.
Many other industry leaders chose to set up data centres here like Equinix, British Telecom and AppNexus.
