GoGrid, an American ICT firm involved in cloud infrastructure, has announced that it has established its EMEA headquarters and a new data centre in Amsterdam.
Bobby Brown, the company's Vice President of operations and support, told the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency: "GoGrid chose to locate its European Headquarters in Amsterdam because of its great network connectivity, its mainland Europe locale, and the proximity of companies looking for an infrastructure as a service provider. Amsterdam has already proved to be a solid base for GoGrid - our local presence has resulted in steady customer growth."
To support its expansion, GoGrid is deploying its cloud infrastructure in Equinix's International Business Exchange data centre in Amsterdam. Equinix currently operates two data centres in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area and is working on establishing a third data centre (to be completed in 2012).
Amsterdam is a strategic location to situate data centres due to its proximity to the Amsterdam internet hub (AMS-IX), the largest data transport hub in the world, renowned for its superior quality and low cost.
