With the launch of a new Media Innovation Centre, Almere has taken a significant step in becoming a hub for ICT and media in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area.
The city of Almere has taken an important step forward in becoming an influential ICT and media hub within the Amsterdam Area. The Almere Kennisstad (Knowledge city) foundation and Innovation Industries have launched the Media Innovation Centre together.
The centre combines the forces of science, education and the media industry and markes an important step forward to the development of Almere as a ICT and media hub.
The centre will focus on providing state-of-the-art education with the introduction of an International Masters Degree in Media Innovation. This is where theory meets practice, and where innovative ideas will transform into value-adding products.
To nurture innovation even further an investment fund will be set up. This fund aims to accelerate the growth of proven products into mature companies and propositions.
According to alderman Martine Visser, the launch of the Media Innovation Centre characterises Almere’s entrepreneurial spirit. “Instead of just talking about innovation, we just go ahead and do it”, she says.
Within three years the Media Innovation Centre aims be a international melting pot of ideas, innovation and business concepts in the media industry.
