Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam expected to open in 2013
Waldorf Astoria announced their expectation of opening a new hotel in 2013. The 94-room hotel will be situated on one of Amsterdam’s most famous canals, the Herengracht.
Growth potential
Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president of development for Europe and Africa Hilton Worldwide, said in a press release: "Waldorf Astoria Hotels and Resorts are experiencing great growth momentum in Europe and Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam will be an exceptional addition to our luxury portfolio. We are particularly pleased to see growth in Amsterdam, which is one of Europe's most popular tourist destinations."
The demand for hotel rooms is expected to increase substantially each year for the foreseeable future. Amsterdam is rising to the challenge by planning thousands of new one-star to five-star hotels to be completed by 2015.
