On 3 December 2011, the Lloyd Hotel opened the doors of its latest hotel initiative in Amsterdam. Situated on the Damrak across from the world's first stock exchange, the Beurs van Berlage, the hotel is called The Exchange.
The Exchange offers 61 diverse rooms, ranging from one to five stars to cover all budgets. For a unique stay, each room is designed and dressed by graduates and alumni of the Amsterdam Fashion Institute (AMFI) – utilising everything from contemporary minimalism to a romantic Marie Antoinette-inspired room, and beyond.
The hotel is situated within three renovated buildings, the oldest dating from the 17th century. It's a five-minute stroll to many of Amsterdam’s top attractions, plus there are a multitude of transport options via nearby Amsterdam Central Station. Beyond fashionable bedding, The Exchange will offer all day breakfast in its restaurant called STOCK and a diverse shopping experience in its 230m2 gift shop titled OPTIONS.
As well as a collaborative project between the Lloyd Hotel & Cultural Embassy and the AMFI, The Exchange spearheads a facelift of the Damrak titled ‘The Red Carpet’, in cooperation with NV Stadsgoed. The aim of this broader urban renewal project is to give the Damrak a more diverse and fashionable look, transforming the street into the catwalk of the Netherlands.
