On 24 January 2012, a new Holiday Inn Express hotel officially opened its doors in Amsterdam. The new hotel is located beside the Amsterdam Sloterdijk railway station, which is a mere eight minutes away from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and only five minutes from downtown Amsterdam.
The unique location of the Sloterdijk business district makes the Holiday Inn Express Amsterdam-Sloterdijk Station the ideal option for corporate travellers. Converted from a former office complex known as Orly Plaza, the hotel is equipped with 254 rooms and two meeting rooms, each with capacity for eight persons. Full details of the opening and the hotel's facilities were announced in Holiday Inn’s press release.
In addition to the arrival of the Holiday Inn Express Amsterdam-Sloterdijk Station, several new hotels have opened their doors in the city recently. For example, the Conservatorium Hotel on the famous Museumplein is newly opened, as is The Exchange, a new fashion-inspired hotel in the centre of town.
The Amsterdam hotel market is currently booming, and demand for hotel rooms is expected to increase substantially in the foreseeable future. Amsterdam is rising to the challenge and thousands of new hotel rooms (ranging from one-star to five-star) are currently at the planning stage, with many projects due for completion by 2015.
