Budget hotel chain easyHotel has announced that it will open its first hotel in the Netherlands. Situated in Amsterdam, the new hotel is expected to open in October 2011.
EasyHotel is the hotel chain of easyGroup, renowned for its budget airline EasyJet. The new hotel in Amsterdam will offer 80 rooms and will be located in the thriving De Pijp neighbourhood of Amsterdam. Following the opening of their Amsterdam hotel, easyHotel expects to open further outlets in other Dutch cities.
The addition of this new budget hotel demonstrates that Amsterdam is continuing to increase its hotel room capacity. The hospitality industry in the city can look back on a successful 2010, enjoying rising occupancy rates and increased profitability. Looking to 2011 and beyond, the future seems bright for entrepreneurs in the hotel industry, as the demand for hotel rooms in Amsterdam is expected to continue to increase in the foreseeable future.
The City of Amsterdam is rising to this challenge, encouraging and supporting plans to build a vast number of new hotel rooms by 2015. In each of the one- to five-star categories, new rooms will be made available. In particular, the city welcomes innovative niche market concepts.
To aid entrepreneurs in developing new hotels and concepts in Amsterdam, the city has appointed a Hotel Development Intermediary who serves as a central point of entry and as a guide to help with the creation or expansion of a hotel business in Amsterdam.
