On 16 & 17 June, Chief Financial Officers (CFO) and financial executives will gather in Amsterdam for the CFO Day. The theme of this year’s CFO Day is ‘Managing the Stakeholders’.
It is no surprise that this event is being held in Amsterdam. The city has a long and illustrious heritage as a financial innovator, spawning the first central bank and being the site of the world's first stock exchange for example.
In addition to the major Dutch financial institutions, the region has nearly 60 branches of foreign banks and over 100 international insurance companies.
The corporate landscape has changed significantly since the credit crisis and companies can no longer be judged purely on their financial results. Companies have to deal with a multitude of social forces and doubt is now being cast on the beneficial operation of the capitalist system. This means that more than ever society must be a subject of discussion in the boardroom.
Therefore, the organisation of the CFO Day believes that today's corporate environment calls for attention to be paid to all stakeholders and not just to the shareholders.
On 16 June CFO Day will start with an exclusive pre-conference and dinner programme.
The next day, the CFO Day conference will be organised in the Okura Hotel in Amsterdam and is expected to draw approximately 450 visitors. Part of the programme will be held in English, the language of each agenda item is indicated.
The programme exists of several presentations, round table sessions and network breaks. There will be a keynote panel discussion about Managing the Stakeholders with René Hooft Graafland, CFO Heineken; Rolf-Dieter Schwalb, CFO DSM; Bernard ter Haar, Director General for Climate and Environment Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment; Niek Hoek, CEO Delta Lloyd Groep; Peter Korsten, Global Leader IBM Institute for Business Value and Derkjan van der Leest, knowledge partner.
A keynote presentation will also be given by Hans Hoogervorst, Chairman of the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets, about the future of supervisory.
Financials interested in coming to the CFO Day can still register at the CFO Day website.
