The British hedgefund Callanish Capital Partners moves from London to Amsterdam. The addition of yet another international financial firm further strengthens the position of Amsterdam as a financial centre.
Callanish’s new location will be the HFC Plaza on the Zuidas in Amsterdam, as reported in the Dutch newspaper Financieele Daglad (in Dutch). The fund has been selected for an investment of 25 million euros by the newly established IMQubator fund, which itself has been funded last year with 250 million euros by the Dutch pension fund APG.
HFC Plaza is an initiative of the Holland Financial Centre, a joint initiative set up by a number of parties representing a broad spectrum of interests in the financial industry. Participants include banks, insurers, brokers, pension funds and asset managers, as well as auditors, law firms, and the government.
Callanish deploys the so-called Global Macro Style as a hedgefund. This means that the fund focuses on main economical themes and invests in stocks, bonds and currencies. Callanish will start operating from Amsterdam as of the 1st of May 2010. The company will keep a marketing office in London.
