Business Program unveiled at PICNIC '10

From 22 to 24 September 2010, Amsterdam will once again host PICNIC, a cross-discipline platform building creative dialogue, networks and collaboration between today's top minds in the fields of media, technology, eco and social solutions.

PICNIC 2010

PICNIC

PICNIC, held in Amsterdam’s Westergasfabriek, is in part a conference and in part a festival.

As well as keynote speakers on specific topics, there are also hands-on workshops, club nights, dinners and matchmaking sessions.

Keynote speakers

The keynote speakers at this year’s conference will share their wealth of knowledge and expertise in new media, technology and creativity. Speakers include His Royal Highness Prince Friso, the second son of Queen Beatrix and Prince Claus of the Netherlands. Prince Friso currently serves as Managing Director of Wolfensohn & Company in London, a private investment and advisory firm primarily concerned with the implementation of clean energy in emerging economies. Dennis Crowley, co-founder of Foursquare, is among the other speakers.

Business Program

PICNIC will introduce a new Business Program this year, which will be unveiled at the PICNIC 2010 event. The new program is a series of sessions focused on creating and fostering business. The program offers support to small- and medium-sized business and fosters learning, growth and innovation at all stages of a business’s development, from creation to expansion to becoming fully established. The key elements of the PICNIC Business Program include PICNIC Pitch Night, Pitch Training, the Chamber of Commerce Marketplace, and Business Masterclasses.

Pitch Night

The PICNIC Pitch Night is a showcase dedicated to helping small- and medium-sized business learn and grow by making connections, gaining exposure and getting expert advice. Twelve selected companies will present their product or service to a panel of experts, who will offer personalised recommendations to each company.

Pitch Training

Companies can improve their presentation skills and learn to position their business more effectively with PICNIC Pitch Training, led by Amsterdam's own Boom Chicago. PICNIC Pitch Training is open to participants of PICNIC Pitch Night as well as any other PICNIC attendees interested in improving their pitch skills.

The Chamber of Commerce Marketplace

On the PICNIC Chamber of Commerce Marketplace, creative and innovative small business shows off their talents, gains exposure and expands their network. The Chamber of Commerce and Syntens have already reviewed 200 submissions for this year’s event, and have selected 75 exciting companies to participate.

Business Masterclasses

Masterclasses offer entrepreneurs in-depth discussions on business challenges and solutions with experts and their peers. The Exceptional Enterprise Masterclass, hosted by Ernst & Young, explores key attributes that market leaders and innovators draw upon in overcoming challenges and accelerating growth. The Marketing and Brand Building Masterclass, led by David Polinchock, draws on his expertise in helping companies find innovative ways to create compelling, authentic and relevant brand experiences.
