Guerrilla Games opens new office in Amsterdam

Video game development studio Guerrilla Games has moved into a new office in downtown Amsterdam, coinciding with the launch of its latest global release. Mayor Van der Laan was present to officially open the cutting-edge gaming studio on 18 February 2011.

Killzone

Guerrilla is a Dutch video game development studio. It’s regarded as one of Europe's leading game producers and is widely renowned for its “Killzone” franchise. In February 2011, Sony released the latest instalment, “Killzone 3”, for its PlayStation 3 console.

Expansion

Mayor Van de Laan officially opened the new Guerrilla Games office

Guerrilla is headed by directors Hermen Hulst and Arjan Brussee, with the company adopting its current name following the merger of three smaller development studios in 2003. The worldwide success of the “Killzone” games has caused the company to expand rapidly, outgrowing its original Herengracht canal house property.

The new office space is located at Rembrandtplein in a recently renovated building called The Bank. This modern location is expected to provide Guerrilla sufficient room for future growth, as well as plenty of inspiration from the City of Amsterdam.

Creative capital

Amsterdam is one of the top five creative cities in the world, alongside giants like London, New York and Los Angeles.

Twenty-five percent of people working in the creative industry in the Netherlands work in the Amsterdam Area. With its long tradition of economic expertise, combined with a high degree of openness, the city has a distinctive characteristic that attracts intelligent and creative minds from all over the world.

More information about the blossoming Dutch gaming industry can be found in the brochure Dutch Games Go Global, by the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA).

International workforce

Amsterdam offers a highly educated multilingual talent pool. With 177 nationalities living within its boundaries, the multicultural character of Amsterdam contributes to internationally minded and cultural staff. Such a tolerant and open society attracts people from every corner of the world, illustrated by the fact that more than 20 nationalities are represented at Guerrilla Games in Amsterdam.
