The social network website Facebook is planning to open an office in Amsterdam. They follow the lead of social media companies LinkedIn and Hyves, who both already have offices in Amsterdam.
Facebook is rapidly growing in the Netherlands and will open a sales office in Amsterdam. This will not be the first office in Europe for Facebook. The social media company already has offices in Germany, France and England.
Founded in February 2004 in the United States, Facebook is a social utility which facilitates communication between friends, family and co-workers. Facebook is one of the most popular social media sites in the world with over 500 million active users. Facebook has approximately 3.4 million active users in the Netherlands.
With the decision to open a sales office in Amsterdam, Facebook follows in the footsteps of LinkedIn. This social media company is oriented primarily toward business users – 46 million worldwide -- who build networks of contacts, post resumes, find work or exchange information with other members.
