Digital Podge 2011 in Amsterdam

On 10 June 2011, creative professionals will flock to Amsterdam for a gathering known as Digital Podge (Dutch Podge for this outing in the Netherlands). The idea behind this event is to bring together creative leaders to talk about their businesses, but in an informal dinner and drinks setting. Brit Phil Jones originally devised this networking concept in 1994, with editions regularly taking place in the UK and Sweden.

Creative capital

Amsterdam

This year, Amsterdam will host a Podge event for the first time. The team behind Digital Podge which includes Bert Hagendoorn, Adobe, amsterdam inbusiness and ACHTUNG!, say that the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area is home to some of the most creative companies in the world and that these organisations are helping to reshape today’s digital landscape.

Catalysed by a huge pool of creative talents, proximity to clients and a cosmopolitan atmosphere, the advertising market is flourishing in the Amsterdam Area. The industry has shown an average annual growth of 6% over the past decade.

Prestigious accounts come to the region thanks to a high concentration of agencies, with campaigns for global brands such as Coca-Cola, Microsoft, Heineken and the Discovery Channel being conducted from here.

Advertising is not alone in blossoming in the Amsterdam Area. The Dutch gaming industry is also enjoying success on a global scale, while the city is home to a well-developed fashion industry and has a strong position as a media hub.

A strong drink and warm welcome

The theme of this year’s Digital Podge will be ‘Kopstoot, the wrong side of Amsterdam’. This is inspired by a traditional Dutch drinking combination: the ‘kopstoot’ is a glass of beer and a chasing glass of ‘jenever’ (Dutch gin, served separately).

So expect a warm welcome to the event with such a tipple, followed by other traditionally Dutch food delights. Beyond fresh insights into the global digital landscape, expect a myriad of opportunities for socialising and also organised tours of Amsterdam.

Creative professionals who would like to attend this informal event can register online via the Digital Podge website.
