TEDxWomen will take place in Washington, DC on 7 and 8 December 2010. Co-produced with The Paley Center for Media, the new event invites men and women to explore how the latter are making a difference with ‘ideas worth spreading’.
From the developing world, where a single micro-loan to a single girl can transform a village; to the West, where generations of educated women are transforming entire industries. The diverse international programme takes a long look at women through the lens of change agent, intellectual innovator and idea champion. The Netherlands will participate in this international programme with TEDxAmsterdamWomen.
TEDxAmsterdamWomen consists of 2 events: A YouWoMen! Congress and a live stream event of the 18 minute TED talks in Washington. The central theme of TEDWomen and TEDxAmsterdamWomen is “Reshaping the Future”.
The cross-disciplinary, cross-generational programme focuses on how women think and work, communicate and collaborate, learn and lead - what this means and why it matters to all of us. Speakers from around the globe - both men and women, from anthropologists and artists to scientists, soldiers, farmers and futurists - will share their ideas in the classic TED format, creating a programme that surprises and inspires.
The TEDxAmsterdamWomen’s Congress, YouWoMen!, takes place on 7 December at Sotheby’s in Amsterdam. People participate by invitation only and speakers include 20 inspiring men and women such as: Azumi Uchitani, born in Japan and owner of Uchitani Consultancy, an inter-cultural business communication specialist and Mirella Visser, founder of the Centre for Inclusive Leadership.
On 8 December 2010, the Live Streaming Event takes place at the residence of Duncan Stutterheim, director of ID&T and initiator of Sensation, on the Prinsengracht in Amsterdam. People can watch the TEDWomen event in Washington and a skype chat with the British philosopher Alain de Botton and with the TEDxWomen events in Soweto and Singapore will take place.
