The International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) ranked Amsterdam 8th in the world's most popular places to host a conference.
The ICCA ranking covers meetings organised by international associations which take place on a regular basis and which rotate between a minimum of three countries. In 2009, the association identified 8,294 events which took place, 800 more than the previous year.
Amsterdam hosted 98 of these meetings in 2009, placing it in the ten most popular cities to hold a conference for the year. A recent example of a large, international conference held in Amsterdam was the World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT) which took place from 25 to 27 May, 2010 and welcomed delegates from over 90 countries.
