The eighth edition of maritime festival SAIL took place on Amsterdam’s IJ Harbour from 19 August to 23 August 2010. Many prominent guests gathered at an amsterdam inbusiness hosted event on the harbour during the first day of SAIL 2010.
For five days, the Amsterdam IJ harbour served as the backdrop for a festive programme of music, culture and fun, celebrating the city’s rich history in nautical travel and trade.
To celebrate once again hosting one of the largest maritime festivals in the world, amsterdam inbusiness invited the international corporate community in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area to the Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ for a festive reception.
Among the guests that attended the reception were Mr Zhang Jun, the Chinese Ambassador to the Netherlands, Mr. Minoru Shibuya, the Ambassador of Japan and many others. Many of the VIPS that were present were introduced to the city of Amsterdam’s new mayor, Mr. Eberhard van der Laan. Of course, the mayors of the other cities that make up the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area, Almere, Haarlemmermeer and Amstelveen, were present as well and spent time with their guests.
The event, aimed to show Amsterdam Area’s appreciation for the presence of its international companies, was regarded as a great success. Many of the business people gave very positive feedback on the organisation of the event. One businessman that attended the reception commented afterwards: “Thank you for the great reception, nice music, a panoramic view of the SAIL event and a tip on the weekend events. I usually do not hang around late in these 'formal' receptions, but last night was an exception. I really enjoyed it."
