Perfect World, a Chinese developer and publisher of online games, has chosen Amsterdam for its European headquarters.
The establishment of this new European headquarters is a significant contribution to the already growing gaming industry.
Perfect World is a market leader in China’s online games market. Perfect World, Battle of the Immortals, Legend of Martial Arts and Zhu Xian are among its most popular games. After a successful entry into the US market, Perfect World will strengthen its position in the European market from its base in Amsterdam.
The choice to set up shop in Amsterdam reflects its position as a hotspot for companies active in the gaming industry. According to PwC’s Global Entertainment and Media Outlook 2009, the Netherlands has one of the largest online game markets in EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa).
Mr. Joon Kim, director of operations of Perfect World Europe, stated in a press release that Amsterdam was selected because of its international climate and quality of life.
Amsterdam’s strategic geographical location contributes to its international climate. The region has always been a major transit hub for people, goods, capital and services to and from the 350 million potential customers on the European continent.
The Netherlands has a reputation as one of the best test markets on the European continent and the Dutch adapt easily. The market is also easy to examine, given its size.
